I'm a second year in optometry school and we have a VERY difficult pharmacology class. Lots of my classmates have purchased a book called "visual mnemonics for pharm" but I just read a very negative review of the book. Has anyone used this book or does anyone have a recommendation for other helpful books? Thanks for any input!

The book sucks...try to get phunny pharm if you can but you will have to check it out at a library if your library has it. If not, it can always be requested from your library to another library far away

I'm an M2 taking pharm. I checked the Visual Mnemonics book out from our library and have been dissapointed with it. I haven't used it (yet), but a lot of my classmates have bought this pharmacology coloring book (sorry, I can't remember the name) and swear by it. Has anyone here used this book and have an opinion on it?

I saw some pharmacology flash cards in Borders the other day. You might try those.

It was easier for me to make up my own Mnemonics. For instance, when they asked what beta-blockers can be used for heart failure (carvedilol, bisoprolol & metoprolol), I remembered Carve Bison Meat.

When you make up your own, you are more apt to learn the names. That exam was over a year ago, but I still remember my mnemonics.

The pharm flash cards are each like mini text books. They are not great to rapidly learn the drugs because there is too much information on each card.
I like pharmacology at a glace but it is very very basic. So I just read it first and then have some place to put the rest of the informaion I learn.
