I'm a foreign medical student and will be doing some electives in the U.S. Can anyone tell me what pharm pocket book/pda program is generally recommended for students here?

thanks!

Epocrates (www.epocrates.com) is great, and free, if you have a Palm. Works for PocketPC and BlackBerry as well, but may cost money (not sure, you'll have to check).

For actual books, most people use Tarascon's Pharmacopoiea.

Hey Blade what PDA do you think is best to have? Palm or Pocket PC? Which model? I would like to get one of my own soon.

Depends on your needs. I've owned both.

IMHO:

Palm: lots of software, more stable OS, multitude of devices, more "user-friendly"
PocketPC: better integration with Microsoft apps (Pocket Word/Excel), usually more built-in RAM, better multimedia, less stable OS

Whether or not you need extras like an integrated phone, MP3 player, camera, Bluetooth, WiFi, etc. is up to you and your needs. Budget and weight considerations also cannot be overlooked.
