I just passed the PTCE and am wondering what I should do next. As far as I understand I need a certification number to continue, and that could take anywhere from 1-3 weeks to get mailed to me. At which point I should register through the TSBP and become a fully registered Texas pharm tech ready to work.

Do I have my facts right? Is there any way to speed up this process?

Should I start applying for jobs today?

Any advice from pharm techs in Texas would be GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks!

I had my certificate from PTCB IN HAND when I registered with TSBP, and the TSBP registration took about two weeks, IIRC.

The only hiccup I've seen happen is when someone didn't disclose something regarding previous offenses. I listed all speeding tickets, etc, and had no problems.

Thanks for the info.

How long did it take for your certificate to get in the mail?

To be honest, I don't recall. It was maybe a month. You'd get a better answer from someone who's taken the exam more recently. Things change. When I took it, I didn't know if I'd passed or failed until I got the cert in the mail. As I understand it, you now know immediately how you did.

I took the PTCE test last summer and it took them about 5 weeks to mail me my actual certificate.

I just became licensed with the state of TX in the past month and it took about 2 1/2 weeks for the whole process including getting finger printed and the time to get my certificate in the mail after the background check was completed.

I wonder if I can just register as a trainee while I wait for my certificate to come in. According to the PTCB website as soon as I see "pass" on the screen after the exam I can use the CPhT title. Then I could just apply to get a job?

I never disclosed speeding tickets and got mine in about 2 1/2 weeks.😕

Since you've passed the PTCE, becoming a trainess is a waste of $40. Didn't you already receive your certification no. when you came to know that you passed? I would go ahead and apply for technician registration.

I already had my PTCB certification when I went through the TSBP deal, so I'm not sure if you're able to do it while waiting on it. I remember TSBP got things done a lot quicker than PTCB though. It's been a while since I got certified so I know things are a little different now. Even if you don't have the certificate yet, perhaps you can start with the TSBP as soon as your PTCB status says "active" on their website?

You could try and see if anyone calls you back. I remember one hospital I applied to didn't like that I was still waiting on my TSBP and wanted me to already have it by the time I applied, but the retail places didn't mind as much. Just explain to them that you're currently in the process of getting it when they ask about it.

Did you do defensive driving for those? Because in that case I believe they'd be erased from your record.

You need to know what your Cert # is before it can be processed.

Mmm maybe I did. I don't remember.
