Don't talk about something you know thing about. Times have changed. They are NOT has hard up as they used to be. Word from the top: "This year was the first year ever that we had more applicants than slots open."

My recruiter last week: "We are full until next year."

You're absolutely right. It was hard to get a pharmacist position last year and the year b4. They are not hard up at all. And this is even apparent by the amount of loan repayment(if any now) the different branches offer. Check it out, you'll see.

And as for military offering lower salaries than private companies. Try running around for a couple months, or a couple years(if you make it that long) in pharmacies that are now really short staffed (cause they are all copying each other, they know they can do this to pharmacists, because we are now a dime a dozen) See how long you can do that. Oh, n so much for salary when you get about 2 weeks vaca lucky if they match the 401k (n if they do, see how long that lasts, most companies have dropped that). Oh, and what about real lunch breaks or breaks at all. No forget that, what about eating period, and a healthy meal? while your doing register, filling, insurance, taking in prescriptions n listening to patients bitch at why you can fill their prescription fast enough, phones ringing off the hook, and customers coming to asking what they can take for a cough or why they can't ****

I wasn't talking about getting in, that wasn't what he was asking. This had nothing to do with that, it was about benefits, pros/cons etc. You DO NOT want to talk to you recruiter about this - period. I don't care what branch you're going into, or what field you're going into. I know this first hand, and I've seen it happen multiple times. You find it through sites like this, and through people that have been in the military/currently in the military. You always take the skeptical route about everything you hear. I know plenty of people within the military, and you never try to base your decision off of what you hear from your recruiter (sorry if you have some personal relationship with him/her, if you do, great - they probably won't be bullchitting you, but chances are this guy doesn't)

It's best to know you want it before even stepping in that door.
