I'm still figuring out what I want to do after I get my bachelor's. I have been looking around on the different forums on this site ad the pharmacy forum is the most boring. I'm seeing topics about adult diapers, shoes, how much salary you're going to get, etc.

I would like to know how you guys find enjoyment. After browsing through some threads, I am convinced that you guys must have one of the most boring jobs ever. On the other forums, they actually have some pretty cool threads to read.

If anyone can change my first impression of your guys, please do so. It would be better not to think what I already do.

I don't usually make career decisions based on random internet forums but to each his own

You seem to think this is an inaccurate reflection....when I'm not studying, I spend my time flipping looking through adult diaper catalogs, researching insoles for my shoes, and figuring my salary down to the last penny.

Dentists don't do that???

If you base your opinion of careers on the topics discussed in a profession's leisure forum, then we can't help you. Sorry.

yeah, pharmacists have the most boring jobs...but we're still more interesting than you because you can't even figure out what the f**kk you are gonna do with the rest of your life yet after that useless BS (bullshiet...not bachelor) degree...Good luck!

pharmacy is freakin awesome. every day i am happier and happier i chose this career.

what a liar! Another BS

A pharmD is a doorway to very nice opportunities. My boss for example takes 8-10 weeks or so vacation per year, gets minimum of an hour break each day, and he is not even in management. Pharmacy is so flexible, and gets you into the top 5% of income earners, without having to take any work home or deal with the office job bull**** that plagues other highly educated and high earning careers. It's WAY more flexible than most other professions and even most other healthcare professions. Plus there seem to be good opportunities for advancement and continual learning about interesting topics. PharmD is a great degree because there are so many places and positions to work in, too.

What else do you need?

I feel pretty lucky to be in pharmacy school, as far as careers go.

Now that Vang has joined fidelity and chuck with no charge ETF's, and of course Vang has the largest selection, which one do you go with.

Keep in mind that I already have several accounts with chuck already.

I think it boils down to what relationships you already have in place... I had already picked up my charles schwab bank credit card. Chuck then waved the $1000 minimum to get into the brokerage account. Now I am here, wondering if I should broaden my horizons. It seems like a great time to convert some mutual funds to ETFs

PharmD is a great degree.. kind of like law or business school, it opens a lot of doors to interesting areas (and really does not need to be constrained to being defined as "retail").

Pharmacy is my dream career. 🙂 I cant go a single day without feeling like the luckiest mother****er in the world

Thanks for a real answer. I had to scroll down from a bunch of nonsense to finally get to this. These do seems like good reasons to go into this profession. I see that you get more time to do other things and have a better quality of life. I guess all the benefits of the job are what is really interesting. I do hear that a lot of people do retail though. I've never really met someone that has done other stuff. Thanks for the input.

I was thinking that maybe you guys would be spouting off all the wonderful things about pharmacy. It makes me wonder if most of you guys really don't have anything to say about it so just post things about the troll?? Only PharmB has actually made some real input. It is getting pretty dismal guys. Please enlighten me.

I know some people that will go on and on about their jobs and what they did all day. I guess not all jobs are that great but please let me know the positives rather than the troll.

Dude, as a pre-health student, you're in a situation where you have to take the initiative to find out about the possible fields that you may go into. Instead of judging pharmacy from what you hear online, you need to actually get involve with the field and decide from personal experience.

Coming in swinging with 'you guys are boring' is not a good way to get people to give you any good advice either, so you'll probably not going to get anything out of this thread.👎

Good advice from a pre-pharmer

If you want something from someone else its best not to insult them off the bat.

Schwab. For now, I cannot afford Vanguard's $3,000 account opening fee (unless it's been changed recently??)

Really???? Are you that socially inept that you don't realize coming in with insults straight off the bat is not going to get people to want to help you? FFS, think about it. I'm so over Gen Y.

Vanguard Brokerage charges $20/yr unless you have more than $50,000 with them.

There are some exemptions to that required opening balance. For instance, the STAR fund only requires $1000 opening balance.
Once you reach $100k with them, you can get some special treatment.

I had to watch that 10 times to see how close it was. His right foot barely missed being crushed by the car. Then he barely missed the truck. I bet he soiled his pants after that.
At first he is just leisurely jogging across the cross walk. Turns, see the bus barreling down on him. Boom, adrenaline hits and he starts kicking those legs.

Damn, where do you work? DIBS on that job!

Well I personally felt like I got really lucky to be where i currently am, however, it's not a miracle or paradise.. I was being idealistic earlier. But in my experience, ive seen across three different branches of pharmacy, that people have worked out flexible hours or PTO, for example, by taking call, you could opt for additional time off to bank, or by rotating more on weekends you could stock up extra days off. I know two people in retail at an independent who each work 26 weeks a year, they work hard when they are home but they are still making enough to live decently. The reason my pharmacist has so much vacation is due to taking extra nights and weekends, and call, during the times he is working.

All pharmacy jobs can be stressful it just depends which kind you deal with the best

Chuck Norris' tears cure cancer. Too bad he has never cried.

I love coming to forums and finding idiots. If you guys don't want to give him an answer to his question, then don't even post at all. "Chuck Norris' tears"? It's a waste of time to have to rummage through the worthless posts.

The post is an intended troll - or a completely lost soul (in need of a lot of internal soul searching)

reading the title - you shouldn't have even clicked on the thread...

Lesson learned I trust...

On a more important note: what are your thoughts on REITs? Is it a viable investment in light of today's market?

So you waste time telling people it's a waste of time to post answers to questions that are wastes of time? Whoa!
