could anyone please help me with this.

why is the use of vasoconstictors in combination with local anesthetics contraindicated in a patient with Parkinson disease who is on levodopa.

levodopa is a prodrug.. it serves as a substance for dopaine synthesis.
pts with parkinson has low dopaminergic neurons..so taking this drug will increase dopamine conc.

the thing is that l-dopa is not being utilized solely in the brain but also in the periphery before it crosses the BBB..high conc of dopamine in the blood cause vasoconstriction and this is the reason,we dont want to cause excessive vasoconstriction..
