Pharmacy Manager Resignation Notice

Just wondering if two weeks notice would be enough for resigning as a pharmacy manager for a retail chain in SoCal. i am a new grad 2009, accepted a pharmacy manager a couple of weeks ago. the manager job is not bad but i was offered a clinical position at a well respected hospital. i have not taken a sign on bonus or signed a contract with the retail chain. being a new grad i dont want to burn any bridges but at the same time, i dont know if an oppurtunity like this will come along again, i have a few nights to sleep on it and make it a decision, any thoughts anyone?

Two weeks is the standard notice. Do it. I'm debating whether to leave CVS. I have an interview with a hospital here. They are offering more pay but they only need me every other weekend for a total of 16 hours every 2 weeks. What I'm thinking about doing is taking the hospital job for 16 hours every 2 weeks then working at CVS on the Saturday that I'm off.
 
NO. It's not enough. Don't burn your bridges. Do it professionally. Meet your boss face to face. Give them as much notice as they need balanced against how soon you need to start at the hospital. Explain to the hospital you can't leave your current employer in the lurch and you wouldn't do it to them. When I left my last job to go to CVS, I gave three weeks notice....

thanks, the hospital director told me to give them more than enough time, he would be willing to work with me and hold the position, he advise me not to burn them, even though if i wouldnt be willing to work for them in the future. im gonna set up a meeting with the DM, when he gets back he is on vacation in India for the holiday season, thanks for your advise.

Giving a 2 week notice is professional and standard. How is giving 2 weeks not professional. I gave 3 weeks notice when i quit only because it worked out well for the pay cycle. honestly, i wanted out so bad that i would have given 2 weeks. But 2 weeks is the standard...

Two weeks notice is what a tech gives. If you want to be treated as a professional, you make sure you leave enough time for your employer to replace you keeping in mind the needs of your new employer. That's my view. You can't ask to be treated as a professional and act like an assembly line worker....

It depends on who you are working for. Do they treat you with dignity, integrity and respect? If so then give them as much notice as you new job will allow.

If it is a company like CVS who treats thier pharmacists as assembly line workers I say screw 'em and walk out the door with no notice. A company like CVS is the most unprofessional place for a pharmacist to work (no breaks, lunches, support and 14 hours work days). So in the case of CVS give no notice and walk out the door. Treat them with the same amount of respect they treated you with. Give more than two weeks notice to a company that deserves it. CVS has a long way to go before they get there.

haha, retail with cvs and walgreens you are an assembly worker...🙂 thats my view...and i doubt i am rehirable after "doing" what i did 🙂
 
I gave my place 8 months notice and still didnt hire anyone until 2 weeks after I left. 🙄

Give them 2 weeks but offer to stay longer if they need it.
 
i cant wait till i give my 2 weeks mid next year

if some1 treated you well, give more, if not, go standard
