Hi, I just applied online to every walgreens pharmacy within 50 miles of where I live to work as a technician. At the end it said I have to go into my local Walgreens store and complete a skill assessment test. I just did that. I walked in and talked to some guy who was pretty cold to me. It seemed like he hated his life or was going through some kind of midlife crisis but anyway he took me into some dark cold room in the back, handed me a calculator and just told me to sign in and take this test. I did and I aced it pretty much but I just have a question: do I have to complete that test for every Walgreens I applied to or does that one test count for all of them? Thanks. Also how long do you think it'll be before I hear back from anyone?

I took it 4 months ago....haven't heard anything from anybody yet.

If you did the skills assessment, it's in the database for all stores. Next I'd call and talk to select pharmacy manager's to see who's hiring. In Texas, you have to register with the board as a tech in training before you can even step foot into the pharmacy. So you might want to see if there's a restriction in your state.

What you are doing to that owl is just wrong. You are the second person on SDN I have seen practising CTO or Cruelty To Owls. CTO is wrong. We must all do our parts to end CTO.

Okay so I just called a Walgreens that said they were hiring at the Walgreens website and some guy who was a Pharmacist told me that the next step would be to wait until next Friday and call 1800-WALGREENS to talk to corporate and ask about the job. Is this accurate or you think I should just go to the actual store and speak to the manager or something?

If it were me, I would check with the stores that I want to work at. Ask for the pharmacy manager, unless you want to be hired for the front store. "Corporate" is not likely to give you anything more than a canned response about having your application on file, blah, blah, blah.

Do you think it matters that I don't have any experience in a pharmacy? I'm in New York so I don't know what the laws are or anything but I did hear that they train you on the job so maybe it doesn't? I'm still in high school btw.

I know nothing about NY so I can't comment about the law situation. Of course it matters you don't have experience, but we all have to start somewhere. Good Luck!

I actually went out and got certified as a tech over this last Christmas break, so I'm already certified and registered with the state of Virginia. I think living so close to Shenandoah, they have all the free workers they need (interns) instead of adding techs. Some friends have said I'll have a better chance over the summer when the interns go home.

Hmmmm, perhaps. But is waterboarding an owl worse than training a hamster/gerbil in guerrilla warfare??? I didn't know they made assault rifles that small!!! 😀
