Howdy,

My pre-req pharmacy is 3.2 and science/math gpa is 2.71. I am obtaining my biomedical science degree and planning to apply to tamu pharmacy school for this upcoming cycle. My pcat composite score in jan 2019 was 29 but was able to lift it to 53. bio-418 , chem-412 , reading-390 , and math - 399 - overall 405. Am I a good candidate ?
also what is the benefit of applying early ?
Those science grades are too low for state school admission in TX. What are your Chem grades? Your PCAT is too low. I am deeply concerned though about the reading below the low in your composite. If that really is your sGPA, you will not be even read in most places, which TAMU are you applying for?

I know you mentioned pharmacy pre-req and science/math GPAs separately, but what’s your overall science GPA vs cumulative?

23 PCAT is nothing to look at unfortunately while a 53 PCAT really means your right at minimal average when compared to a 5-year span of students taking the PCAT (~63,000 people).

Keep in mind, pharmacy isn’t easy schooling. Biochemistry will be coming right back at higher volumes and you really need to show for yourself a higher GPA trend so as to not set yourself up for disappointment later down the line.

The benefit of applying early is that your file will be reviewed when there are the most available seats. We admissions folks can thus do our best comparisons and assessments to determine the best interview candidates or those to extend offers.
