Hello, everybody. Every since I started reading these forums 4 years ago, I wished that there was a pre-pharmacy student site with applicant profiles, so I went ahead and created Pharmapplicants.com as an applicant database similar to the one that medical ( mdapplicants ) and dental students ( predents ) enjoy. Registering allows you to create an applicant profile, list the statuses of each school that you apply for, message/comment other users, and create a watchlist to keep track of other users that you wish to follow (watchlist shows the status for every school that the user applied for and is up to date). You can always conduct searches without ever registering an account.

Here is an example of a user profile.

Pharmacy Schools list

You can do an advanced search: http://pharmapplicants.com/search_profile.php

After creating an account, make sure you select the correct application year before adding the schools that you applied for. This site has been completed just in time for all of you who are starting up a new year of applications for 2010 (this new cycle that has just begun would be classified as "Entering Class 2010"), but the database will go back up to 2008 and 2009. All the cycle years default to 2010 as that is the most recent cycle, so make sure to change the year dropdown to the correct year in 'update profile' if you are an applicant from last year or two years ago.

I tried to cover many admission factors as possible to provide useful data for all to use. Applicant profiles indicate whether the user has had pharmacy work experience or received a pharmacy technician license. Although neither experience nor a tech license is required for admission at pharmacy schools, it provides useful data on the breakdown of applicants who were admitted with or without these criteria. Not all applicants may take the PCAT, so this was taken into consideration also.

The site is new, so the sample size is low. Once the sample size gets larger, the site becomes more and more useful for pre-pharmacy students (make a profile!)

An example of how the watchlist works: You can add multiple users to keep tabs on.

Please leave feedback, suggestions, and bugs here. SDN mods, I have e-mailed you guys through the "Partner with SDN" form, so please read that.
Please don't ban/lock this thread, as I am willing to work with SDN to make everything compliant to the rules and regulations of this site.

After a few years and the ball gets rolling it will be real useful.

I'll definitely sign up to help the future applicants.

I like it. I wish this would have been around when I first started looking at pharmacy schools. If you get more users, maybe by SDN using a sticky on this thread, it could help a lot of pre-pharmers.

I went ahead and created a profile for future applicant's sake haha. I wished there was one when I was applying too. (My gf was pre-dent and it was a useful tool for her).

Aren't you missing "Quantitative Reasoning" under PCAT?

Smart- love the idea! Just wish that this was around when I was applying last yr... oh well, it's great that we got something that's comparable to what the dental and medical kids have!!

thanks! going to fix that

currently working on a useful gpa calculator 🙂

Are you still working on the design and layout? It seems a bit rough even just browsing.

by rough do you mean it is slow or just the layout is not optimized for ease of use? design/layout changes will be worked on after ironing out bugs and completing functionality

Very nice! I wish this had already been around a few years because I'm applying now. I like the layout but I think what's missing is some kind of graphics or image. I'm sure that will come later though. Good job!

Optimization for ease of use and general aethetics. For example, you can't go back to the results after selecting a profile. Or the headers of the columns in tables could be more self-explanatory (without needing the tooltip) and the icons used for WL, A, etc.

It'd be cool if you could make it all AJAXy. 👍

Made one for fall 2009 admission.
If I end up having to reapply (waitlisted now) I will make another one for fall 2010

thanks, took a note of all that.

for the registered users, is it just me or when using firefox, sometimes it makes you login twice (it goes back to the home page without logging you in). I think it has to do with my using saved passwords on firefox.

thanks

thanks for the links!! i just registered for 2010 🙂

Can you change the order from year month day to month day year?? Just more natural to read that way.

I have a question/suggestion

Can you change your profile for each application cycle. My 2009 application and 2010 application are different and I'd like to show that.

I think it would really help. If a person was denied/wait listed in one year and then was accepted in the next year (or years later), it would be helpful to know what that person did to help their application.

thanks for the feedback everyone.

going to get a list of things to do and start knocking them out once a few at a time which includes changing order of dates, ajax (coming later), new design (coming later), new WL/A,W icons, and adding multiple applications for re-applicants.

as of right now desmoulins45179, you can write the new re-applicant info in the EC box and set those new things in parentheses with (as re-applicant) and just update your newer GPA/PCAT into the fields OR make another account for the 2010 one.

Great site. Thanks for doing all this work.

You should encrypt the passwords. It looks like they're stored in plaintext, which isn't a good idea.

It's kind of confusing when students decline their interviews because it looks like the students interviewed at the school and then withdrew their applications on the same day.

This is great! You made a very useful site, koercive.

Can you add in Canadian pharmacy schools too?

I think a case like that is not all that common. I'm thinking that whether or not he/she attended the interview is irrelevant if he/she withdrew from the interview anyways or withdrew after the interview. The interview date just shows that he/she did receive an interview for that date (knowing if the stats got that person an interview is the key piece of information). I think I know what you mean, but I don't really see a way around it.

Is the application process the same for Canadian pharmacy schools? (pharmcas, pcat, etc)?

Coming Soon!

-SDN Profile Signature Links (on left side of user panel) as seen in the pre-dental/pre-med parts of the forums.
-graphs that plot overall GPA and PCAT composite scores on X/Y axis (for accepted/rejected)
-few changes listed above

that is sweet koercive! you are a huge contributor in the prepharm forum, all prospective applicants should thank you for this because it'll eliminate the hunting process for them. wish this existed when i was applying.

Very nice! The graphs will look great once more people get on the site. I'm very interested to see how those turn out.

Somebody wants the fame of being sticky'd.

Is that an adjective? To be sticky'd? If it is then what's the spanish translation?

Stickyar?

It feels like it'd be more an "ie" verb.

Stickier.
So like,

"It got sticked." Lo stickio'.

Sounds good to me!

dammit I meant verb. Must be the booze talkin'.

more importantly I want everyone to see my Avatar. Look now, all of you. Where is this picture from?

I was given this avatar by the good folks at SDN because of my class, my respect, and my tolerance for the ignorant.

Great site, koercive. This is really useful for pre-pharm students. Thanks!

Started my first year this week. Ajax functionality will be added one by one.

Feel free to make any suggestions on this thread or via pm.

This is unrelated, but what pharm school are you in?

Usc co 2013

If you need help with apps for Cali pharm programs, feel free to pm me.

Oh congrats. I have a friend who's there too, same class. I'm sure I'll need help with apps, so I'll PM you sometime.
