I'm pretty sure after you e-submit the schools can see it immediately. I'd be willing to bet they wait until pharmcas calculates your gpa before they consider though, just so that they have all the info available to them.

As far as earliness is concerned, I think if you get everything in before the deadline, the schools prefer that. In my experience it's a very good idea to finish your app early, even if the school doesn't having rolling admissions. Rock on you guys, good luck with everything.

So are you a Flynn or Russell kind of guy? Do you ever hang out at Tigerdroppings?

I'm annoyed with them as well. Supposedly my PCAT scores were sent on Dec 6th, so 5 weeks later why am I still getting notices from schools indicating that my application is not complete due to missing PCAT scores? WTF... 😡

Have you called up Harcourt and confirmed your scores were sent? PharmCAS accesses your PCAT scores immediately online from Harcourt so the only delay should be from human processing or error.

For the schools that acutally use the PharmCAS supplemental tool to update your application status it says that they have gotten my scores. Would I call PharmCAS or Harcourt to verify that they were sent to the other schools? I wasn't sure exactly how it worked... does Harcourt send our scores to PharmCAS and then PharmCAS forwards them to the shcools or does everything come directly from Harcourt?

Harcourt notifies PharmCAS that they have scores for them. PharmCAS should immediately access those scores online and should make them available to the schools. You would first want to call Harcourt to make sure they sent the score to PharmCAS. They can usually verify this quickly on the phone. If so, call up PharmCAS and eloquently ask them wtf is going on.

Been checking PharmCAS for the past 4 weeks for my calculated GPA and it's finally shown up. Does anyone know what the quality points are? 😕

Category...........Subject........Hours........ Quality Points...GPA
Undergraduate... Science........68.00......... 240.00......... 3.53
.......................Non-Science..33.00......... 129.00......... 3.91
.......................Math............12.00......... 48.00.......... 4.00
GPA Overall...........................113.00....... 417.00......... 3.69

Is it something pharm schools look at and is it something that can hurt my chances?

------edit: Should really have an option to delete threads because I just realized how stupid my question was. 🙁

I like Russell, even though his decision making sucks. The team likes to play for Flynn more than Russell, because Ja is lazy. That being said I wanna see Perrilloux tear it up next year, I'd rather seem him under center than either of the older guys.

Thanks for the info... I'll give them both a call tomorrow. I'm starting to think that it's probably the school though....

Could someone please tell me about how long it takes for a recommendation to be recieved by PharmCAS after I entered the evaluators information on the application. Of course, assuming the evaluator fills out the form in a short amount of time. Thanks!

Actually, it shouldn't take that long for Pharmcas to receive the recommendations, assuming that your evaluators are filling out the forms online. Once your evaluator submits his/her lor to Pharmcas, a date should automatically appear and a status. I remember sending out requests for LOR to my evaluators....one of my evaluators submitted within the same day. How long it takes for Pharmcas to receive your lor depends how long your evaluator puts off in filling out the form and actually submitting it.

On the other hand, I don't know what happens if you give your evaluator the pharmcas paper version of the forms......

Good luck!

it should showed up as soon as the evaluator finishes. Good luck

Thats a relief! I figured since this is PharmCAS were talking about, it'd take about 4 to 5 weeks. Thanks for responding!

All of my transcripts have been received and they still havent updated my GPA's in the academic update window. AHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! 😱

I sent my in as well....so my gpa hasn't been updated as well....

lol, I waited for six weeks, and finally they finished processing my application.

Call them. I did this morning and they verified my updates immediately.

The holidays probably slowed them down. My fall transcript was processed yesterday (it was sent over two weeks ago) and they updated my grades today.

ok ok,

they finally updated everything.

Oh ok. I called my school and they said my fall transcripts were sent out about 1.5 weeks ago. I didn't see the receipt of my transcripts on pharmcas so I was just getting worried. I guess I'll wait until next week. =T

Well, unfortunately PharmCAS STILL hasn't gotten all of my transcripts (4 different schools, they only have 1!) I talked to a lady at one of the schools today that told me you can submit your application WITHOUT having all of your materials into PharmCAS. Does anyone know if this is true? I can submit my application to schools even though they only have transcripts from 1 school? It didn't sound right to me, so it's why I am asking. I appreciate any input. Also, as far as the personal statement..... would anyone that has been accepted to school be willing to either review mine or share theirs ? Thanks for letting me know 😀

Check your pm. 🙂

u can submit the application through pharmcas, but u can't make any changes after that. Once Pharmcas receives your transcripts, they update your file and send an updated copy to the school. Double check with pharmcas, but that's what I remembered seeing on their website. That's granted that your transcripts are there before the deadline for each school.

The PharmCAS Science GPA consists of all natural and physical sciences (i.e., biology, anatomy, chemistry, organic chemistry, etc.) and engineering courses (which really sucks for engineers)! Computer Science courses are not included in the Science GPA.

So there's a math, science and overall gpa. Are there any others that Pharmcas calculates? I am going to apply this summer and not sure what to expect with Pharmcas. Also, is it safe to assume Comp Sci classes just get calculated for the overall gpa? (I have a BS in Comp Sci). Thanks!

once u send all your transcripts in u can check your status to see what the GPA comes out to be. THe only catch is, I think u have to designate one school first and then submit. It will tell u where u stand in terms of all 3 GPAs though.

Hi---
I'm planning to apply for admission into the Fall 2007 class (pharmacy school). How early can one apply?

Thank you.

In June sometime you can begin your application...

Has anyone had trouble accessing their website? I haven't been able to get on all day.

I couldn't access it either all day too!

Ok so the www.pharmcas.org link doesn't work. But here's a trick... google "pharmcas" and the second hit should say PharmCas-ApplyOnce. This link takes you to log-in and from there you can access your application.

It should be around July, but you should start preparing a bit now. 😎

I think the cycle opens in June. 🙂

Is pharmcas open for ALL schools in June? Oh my, I am salivating right now! So close! 😀 This time around, I'm applying for EVERYWHERE the first week they take app's! no joke!

Based on the calendar for the 2005-6 application cycle for PharmCAS, the web application cycle begins June 1, and August 1 is when PharmCAS begins to release information to PharmCAS school.

Ah man, I was hoping to get a few months of pharmacy experience in before applying. Looks like I'll have to do that starting end of May when I get out of school.

hey guys, great site here, a wealth of knowledge. I had a question i was hoping someone would be able to help me out with. I will be applying for pharm school this summer for fall 2007. I am currently attending SDSU and transfered over from a jc. While i was at jc i was doing business, and got a D in a computer class. Now i'm thinking about retaking that class this semester(they have a fast track program) online but i'm not sure if it would be worth it. From what i know PHARMCAS does not do course forgiveness, and the grade i'd receive would just be averaged in. I'm only taking 9 units right now, so this extra class wouldn't be an overload. I just don't know if i should take it so that it would atleast look good to pharmacy schools or if I should just forget about altogether. My gpa is only 3.1, so i'm kinda freakin out right now. I also plan on taking PCATS this summer, although I'd prefer to stay in cali. any help/tips/suggestions would be greatly appreciated. thanks again guys/gals. 😳

Computer class is not a big deal. I suggest you to focus on get involve with pharmacy related activities. Good Luck

ya....i started working at a pharm at the start of the year so i'll have some experience by the time i apply this summer. just don't know if it's worth taking that class or not! on a side note, i had a different question. i'm planning on taking the PCAT in october, but thought i'd give it a shot in june as well. however, i do not want to do poorly on the june exam.

my question is: do pharmacy schools see ALL scores from the PCAT? or just the ones that you decide to send?

If you don't send the score to PharmCAS or the school, they won't see the score.

So here I am, calculating figures. . . watching the $$$ signs get bigger and bigger! :scared: But I have a question, mostly about money.. If someone has time and patience to answer this, thank you!

Ok, so if I were to apply to 10 institutions pharmcas says they will charge me $440. Is this just a pharmcas charge?

Is it option 1: If I, Sarah, apply to 10 pharmacy colleges it will cost me $440 plus the additional cost of each application fee to the 10 colleges.
Example: $440 (Pharmcas fee) + (10 COP x ~$50 application fee) = $940 (~$1000)

Or option 2: If I, Sarah, apply to 10 pharmacy colleges via pharmcas it is a flat fee of $440..

Logically, I would pick 1.. but I am looking for any advice. Thank you! 🙂

Sorry, but I believe you're right with option 1.

Yep... you pay the PharmCAS fee plus whatever supplemental application fee the school has (in my experience $40-$60). So your option #1 is right on.

My suggestion (unrealistic) is to apply only to non pharmcas participating schools. First of all, they get a fraction of applications, since you have to invest a lot of time in each application and they are all different. This can mean the difference between over a thousand competing applicants and competing with a few hundred. Secondly, all you have to pay is the application fee for each school, and thats usually like $30 to $40.

I just happened to not be interested in any schools that were using PharmCas, except one. And I wasn't sure if I was going to apply there anyway, so when I saw how much work and money PharmCas would be for just applying to one school, I ended up not applying there.

Option 1 🙁

Applying to schools is expensive. And really it will be more than your calculated figure since you'll have traveling costs for each interview. I think i spent ~$2500 including pharmcas, supplimental fees, and travel costs applying to 5 schools (4 out of state).

So now that I see the big con of the pharmcas is money.. what are the pros????
I mean why would someone spend this much money on applying and still have no/slight/some chance of getting in. :scared:
