Hi people. I'm a pre-pharmacy student and I was wondering if someone could educate me about PharmD/MBA dual degree program.
Is it worthed to do a dual degree?
What are the advantages and disadvantages?
Tell me about the real world after you earn that degree
Do you get jobs in pharmaceutical industry?
Are there other ways to work in pharmaceutical industry without doing PharmD/MBA dual degree?
Does your life tend to become clinical or does it tend to become more corporate once you earn the degree???

Please, try make this discussion as deep as possible and share your opinions and experiences. I'd greatly appreciate it.

The reasons I'm asking this is because I just don't want to limit myself working in retail pharmacy for life. I want more options. I want to have some status in life as well as a good rewarding.

Thanks.

Each program that offers the Combo are different - Most programs add in one year of MBA classes in between didatic years of pharmacy school.

Use of the extra degree varies. It can be used as a qualification to be a pharmacy manager or director of pharmacy. If you were planning to open up your own independent pharmacy - the MBA would be beneficial in helping you run your business.

Its important to state that you get out whatever you put in. The value of the MBA has been in a rapid decline during the past 10 years or so. A degree alone will get you no further in life - it is what you do with the degree that matters. I have not heard of any doors opening simply because someone did the combined Pharm D/MBA.

Consult the pharmacy FAQ for more information about dual degrees.
