Started by redmuskan
Do you guys know what do Intern get paid these days ? AT CVS, walgrens, target, wal-mart etc.
This really belongs in the pharmacy forum. Let me move it for you.
13ish per hour seems pretty normal round here.

Really?? My friend, P2, is getting $21/hr. I guess it depends on where.
12/14/16/18 depending on your year in school.

That's nothing.
I have a friend that makes $50/hour as a P1 and he gets all the free Vicodin he wants.
I kid. Yes it is highly variable based on where you live and what kind of work you find. $21 is extremely high, your friend is doing very well for himself.
Unscientific survey:
Retail in CA: $18-22/hr depending on year
Hospitals on the east coast: $16-18/hr (i'm somewhere in the middle there)

Kroger starts at $14 an hour and pays an additional dollar per hour for what year you're in. So p1 is $14, p2 is $15 ect.
What KMA do you work in? That's not accurate where I work.
I'm pulling down 13/hr as a P2. Was offered 16.50 an hour at a hospital but turned it down (night shifts and not enough hours).

Don't they pay 11 for P1s and then $1 more for every year after?
Highly variable depending on region, practice setting, experience, and school year.
Personally ive gotten $15 at my hospital and nuke jobs.
As far as what I've heard , so to speak, from friends and contacts, id think you could expect $12-20 for retail and $14-25 for hospital depending on the previously listed factors.
Yes I know a couple hospital guys making in the mid 20s but they are expected to work 15-20 hrs / week including nights. Average # for retail I hear thrown around is about $13 ish , but usually with a much more easy and flexible schedule
Hth . And BTW , don't expect to negotiate intern salaries, they are fixed for the most part unless you are bringing something really special to the table

No, here in my KMA you start at $12 as a P1 and go up $2 per year thereafter.
Smith's. I'm curious what Fry's and Ralph's pay their interns. What KMA do you work in? That's not accurate where I work.
And 11 is a joke but there super flexible...
Y'all should feel privileged you're not slave labor IMHO.

P1, just got the paperwork done and bumped to $12.50.

Other thing you have to remember is students can be interns and have different amounts of responsibility which will greatly affect what they make.
21/hr - hospital
places are hiring starting at 25/hr in retail if you can commute to an underserved area. For us Arizonans, underserved areas are not really that far away - maybe 45min to an hour drive. For 25 an hour and an 8-10 hour shift (plus the experience), I think it is worth it. That's an extra ~800 bucks a month.

Im srsly getting raped. $12/hr PRN tech work, basically I make IVs, TPNs, batch meds and fill the machines. Just pleaded my case for a pay raise and more responsibility so well see.
😆
Me too buddy. Can't help but wonder how we might go about getting one of those 20+ jobs.

Well, 12 at the hospital, 14.50 at CVS. Hardly anything to brag about.
Back in the day when I was in pharmacy school (graduated in '94), I made minimum wage as a pharmacy intern and $11 /hr as a graduate intern at a chain pharmacy. I don't think the interns at the hospital I work at make much more than $12/hr. This is in the middle of nowhere midwest.
anyone knows the rates in nyc? for p3,p4,p5,p6 (professional phase 1-4) in retail?

in CVS:
p3-12
p4-13
p5-14.50
p6-16(?)
Grad intern: half pharmacist salary (~27-28)
The most I ever made was $15/hour at the VA. It was several dollars more than either of my retail gigs. No idea what retail is paying now.
