Pharmers on Midlevels

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
As we men of medicine grow in learning we more justly appreciate our dependence on each other. The sum total of medical knowledge is now so great and wide spreading that it would be futile for any one man ... to assume that he has even a working knowledge of any part of the whole ... The best interest of the patient is the only interest to be considered, and in order that the sick may have the benefit of advancing knowledge, union of forces is necessary ... It has become necessary to develop medicine as a cooperative science; the clinician, the specialist, and the laboratory workers uniting for the good of the patient, each assisting in elucidation of the problem at hand, and each dependent upon the other for support. -William J. Man that sounds so communist.

What is your opinion on Jonas Salk not patenting the polio vaccine? Was that communism?

What a great discussion topic. We talked about this briefly in immunology. I would be interested to hear what my fellow SDNers have to say about it 🙂

Yes, I would say practising medicine for something other than personal gain would qualify as communistic. That is why I refuse to get the polio vaccine; I would sooner die than support communism.

yup and it saved lots of lives.

I'm feeling that you and I have bonded over the life of this thread.

Spoken like a true support of truthiness. :meanie:

Amen brother.

I have to admit that I'm not well-versed enough to have a lengthy conversation about communism. In my mind, it's like this:

What I'd like to see:
Everybody who can work, should work
People who are working shouldn't have nill or absolute **** health care, while basketball players and actors have awesome health care
We should work together to fix problems (this is pharmacy, medicine, and things far outside the box)

What I don't want to see:
Absolutely no mention of the word "bourgeoisie"
No victory gin
No hammers and sickles

First time Sesame Street looks like this, I'm out.

First of all let me say well done sir. Always nice to meet a fan.

Second, what do you have against victory gin? And finally, even if I cannot say the "b" word - may I at least oppose the proletariat?
