Of course they do not mention the restricted range that plagued the studies they refer to.
Here is the bottom line, fair or not, anyone planning on getting a PhD should have the intellectual ability to pull off 550's per section )unless extenuating circumstances are involved)on the GRE and have other stellar qualifications. As someone has been through the process, and has less that phenomenal GRE results, I have no problem with statement and stand by it. Some people just don't have what it takes to do certain things. It is just the way the world works. Less feelings of entitlement and more studying is my suggestion.
