I was wondering if anyone could tell me their opinions on the Philly aneshtesiology programs: temple, drexel, thomas jefferson, and Upenn. I tried to look around but didn't find anything within the last couple years...

I hate when people don't respond so...
Temple is a clinical program that works really hard. The faculty seem really cool, but the residents are blah at best or maybe just tired. They see more trauma than anywhere else because it's in north Philly. They rotate at CHOP and St Chris for Peds.
Jefferson works much less and is great for regional and pain. They probably have a better reputation than all the other programs outside of penn. I don't know how cool the people there are though.
Drexel I have heard about but they got a bad wrap on here. I did meet some residents before and it seems like they wouldn't even recommend the program.
Penn is mostly what you would expect. They work hard, lots of autonomy, rare cases, many more numbers than you need for acgme requirements. Not as much research as you would expect because they want you to WORK.

I have heard really good things about Cooper. A resident there I know loves it and this is someone that could have gone to any program.

I would second all of this, and add that Jefferson definitely has the best hours of the bunch, and as far as I know, the people there are pretty cool. Jeff and Penn also see a good amount of trauma, I don't think you'd really be missing out at either of those places if that's an interest despite Temple's rep for getting lots of trauma.
