This message is directed to the Med Schools in the Philippines. I hope you ppl realize that rotation schedules without 8-hour rest in a 24-hour period is dangerous. In other countries like the US this is against labor laws. You ppl think its a right-or-passage. Its against labor laws because people, especially in critical professions, need rest in order for them to perform at their best. Do I really want a physician working on me after being up for 24 hours let alone 30 hours?

Here's an article from UCSF - https://meded.ucsf.edu/policies-proc...k-hours-policy

Just to add/clarify to above post....rotation schedules without 8-hour rest in a 24-hour period is unsafe and dangerous. And why do I need to point this out to ppl in the medical field.?? Of all ppl, you should be the ones making this comment. And don't come back with an idiotic response that its because its your culture. Has nothing to do with that. One of these days this practice will come back and bite you in the you know where!
