Hello,

Some schools offer a phone interview if you are unable to travel. My question is to those who have had a phone interview in the past or know someone that has: CAN A PHONE INTERVIEW BE EQUALLY SUCCESSFUL, OR IS IT BETTER TO GO THE EXTRA MILE AND SHOW UP FOR THE PHYSICAL INTERVIEW?

The reason I ask is because I feel somehow that unless you're a stellar applicant and are able to blow them out of the water even over the phone, it is better to do the real interview and give them a chance to see who you really are. Unless of course you are such a horrible interviewee that a phone interview will actually do you MORE good.

What do you think?

Out of curiousity, which schools do phone interviews?

Drake College of Pharmacy in IA provides this as an option. I don't know what other schools do.

I think you're right. You should go in person. You have no idea how much eye contact, physical presence and your ability to communicate in person will reflect on the interviewer. It makes a lasting impression.

I believe Creighton does a lot of phone interviews, but that may be for just the web-based applicants.

I interviewed for the campus based program over the phone. Obviously I did not get in!! But I did become an alternate. I am reapplying for next year.

Did they give you a choice to interview on campus or on the phone?

i was interviewed by phone and accepted by Creighton. it doesn't matter if you're applying for the web-based or campus program...they give all the applicants the choice to do it by phone or inperson. but i would recommend interviewing in person if this is your first interview. it'll give you insight as to how to act in others when you receive invitations by other schools. also, if you feel that you have a good speaking voice then a phone interview is fine. their interviews are only 10-15 min and the questions they ask are questions that'll give them an idea how you would act in a situation and who you are as a person.
