First I'm sorry because of my very basic question's.

What is the optimal photon energy for treating deep tumors for example prostate cases?
I'm a supporter of beam energy's =< 10MV because of sharper field edge's (smaller penumbra) and little neutron contamination.
But what is your thought's?🙂

Yes, you have it right. If patient anatomy allows then 10 mV photons or less are optimal. Once you hit about 18 mV or so, you run into significant issues with photodisintegration which treatment planning software cannot account for.

I would just use protons for everything!
