Basically
for C4- CO2 enters the leaf- combines with PEP--> makes OAA
OAA--> malate
malate--> pyruvate, CO2
the CO2 is moved from mesophyll cells to bundle sheath cells, and this increases the efficiency of photosynthesis
You can find C4 plants in hot, dry areas
CAM- similar to C4 except OAA--> malic acid-->vacuole-->OAA +CO2-->Calvin cycle
@ night stomata open
@ day stomata close (reduce water loss)
CAM changes with time of DAY- so its typical of desert plants

awesome summary!

Are these topics all really on the DAT? I mean, general photosynthesis I could believe (photophosphorylation/calvin), but CAM, C4, photoresp, etc??
Upon review of my bio class ppts and notes I can't find much at all about those things, yet my class did go into far more detail than kbb and cliffs on general photosynthesis. Also, looking at the official DAT summary of topics from the ADA, it simply says "photosynthesis". Can anyone verify these topics are definitely tested material on the DAT?
Thanks!

bump do we need to know CAM, C4, etc. that is in campbells

I would know the basics of each. I do believe I had one question relating to plants regarding photosynthesis, though it wasn't a detailed question at all. I only studied these topics from Barron's AP bio, didn't do the plant chapter in Campbell. Surprisingly enough, that one question may have been the only plant question I got at all.
Photosynthesis is definitely on the DAT, not the other C3/C4/CAM.
That's a contradiction, as C3/C4/CAM are the types of photosynthesis. Did you mean something else?
ohh i too hate that topic..😉
