So, I have looked online and in a couple anatomy texts but cannot seem to find the answer. I remember that the phrenic nerve has efferents from C3-C5 to the diaphragm, but also has afferents going through different nerve root levels than the efferent (I remember this because I got it wrong on a test Q before...). Does anyone know what roots the sensory afferents feed into? Thanks in advance,

Lower 6-7 intercostal and subcostal nerves (Moores 329). Phrenic has some afferent properties as well.

Pretty sure it has some afferents in the C3-C5 region and in the intercostal/subcostal region as well. That's why problems with and near the diaphragm can radiate pain to the shoulder.
