Hi all,

I'll be applying to DO schools for next year's 20-21 cycle. Prior to embarking on the premed journey, I had considered being a physical therapist or occupational therapist. During my sophomore year of undergrad, I accumulated ~70 hours of PT shadowing and 40 hours of OT shadowing. While I understand this does not count as shadowing a physician (I plan to shadow both an MD and DO this coming fall), I'm still wondering how listing these hours will look on my med school application?

I enjoyed both of these experiences very much and plan to talk about how they allowed me to observe "patients being treated as a whole" rather than simply treating the disease. What are y'alls thoughts?

I wouldn't put it on it if it will just count as 'PT/OT shadowing.' Your better off just getting regular volunteer hours if they can do it, probably not since its just 'shadowing.'
The reason is that it looks as if you are trying to get into everything, just keep hours that show your 'commitment to medicine' (lol). Keep the PT/OT hours if your MD/DO plans do not work out.
