Physically visiting the admissions office

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Does this stage of the application have any effect on residency applications and interviews (besides getting reported to amcas and being barred from entering the system in the first place)? can adcoms make a note for program directors 4 years down the line that such and such applicant was rude or whatever? I'm assuming the adnissions staff are different for each process?

I highly, highly, highly doubt this happens. Medical school admissions and the residency application process are distinct and totally unrelated processes. There's no way that the medical school would even know which programs you're applying to, much less having the motivation to "make a note in your file" for future programs to consider.

Creeeeepy. Just show up at the dean's house unannounced but w donuts. The office staff don't really have much say, anyhow.

LOL. Got a good chuckle out of that visual. In my version, the Dean opens the door, sees the student holding open a box of Krispy Kreme Donuts, and, without saying a word, picks off a glazed one and then shuts the door. Haha. Ok, I should get back to work. And now I want donuts.

This might be a good moment to point out that medical school admissions offices deal with more disgruntled customers than Target on an average day.
Threats, veiled and direct are not uncommon.
This tends to make everyone a a little edgy when uninvited guests appear.

Are you serious? Doesn't seem like that sort of behavior is in line with the altruist they claim to be...WOW. I'm a little surprised.

Applicants who make credible threats of violence are reported to AMCAS (in addition to local authorities!).
Other schools to which the applicant has applied are notified.

What. The. Heck?!?! THIS HAPPENS?! I guess I used to work in the service industry, so I shouldn't be shocked by much, but sheesh! ok, I'm going to pick my jaw up off the floor now.

A transgression so small that one were admitted in spite of it would not get into the MSPE.

Please do not show up at an MD admissions office without an appointment. Even if you have already visited the school as an interviewee, do not consider that an open invitation to show up in person to drop off an update, deliver thank you notes, ask a post-interview question, etc. There is zero benefit to showing up “in person.” It may be viewed as aggressive, and definitely will be viewed as not recognizing/respecting boundaries.
um idk if i would agree with this 'stay away from the admissions offices by all means' mentality. Its not a classified gov't offices.
I politely dropped of my secondary payment in person only b/c the school was literally across the street from my job. I also dropped off thank you notes..
I got in..
I dont think dropping off thank you letters or documents that take about 2 secs will be damaging, but hey .. n=1

That's different than showing up and begging for an interview

I know it's different than showing up requesting and interview I was referring to the person who posted saying to. Not show up to the admissions office whatsoever without an appointment. They individual stated to not show up even to drop off thank you notes, ask post interview questions, etc.
