The staff C&P Physician is responsible to conduct timely and quality C&P exams that meet both local VHA and national level CPEP (Compensation and Pension Examination Program) standards.Mandatory CPEP Certification is required prior to conducting C&P exams. The encumbent will be responsible to the Office of the Associate Director through the Chief, Compensation and Pension Section. Timeliness and quality of the Compensation and Pension (C&P) examination is of utmost importance. C&P examinations must be completed within 30 days of the date the examination was received by the C&P Unit. In order to meet this timeframe, the C&P examination should be completed within 5 days of the date of the appointment and examination. For more complicated examinations, such as those awaiting special tests or consultation, this 5 day timeframe may be extended. However, all routine examinations must be completed and returned to Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA) within 5 days. The quality of completed C&P examinations are reviewed continuously both on the local VHA and National level by the CPEP Program. To ensure complete examinations, the majority of examination reports will be completed using the CPRS, CAPRI exam templates, or will be dictated to include all of the exam worksheet requirements. C&P examiners will be expected to achieve a minimal score of 89% and above, which is consistent with C&P evaluation and scoring criteria to ensure high quality examinations.
