ok so i've started to do this..finally.
my question is this:
how are the hours i spent with the doctors monitored?
and how are they requested for on the med school application? are they even asked for?

You're not going to need a letter proving you did them. Keep track of your own hours.... period.
 
Ok so I just put down hours I have shadowed said doctor, and they won't ask for any proof?
 
In my opinion,

Its not really about "hours" Its about what you learned from the experience, and why that makes you a serious, committed, unique applicant.

Agreed. Make sure to shadow at least 2 or 3 different specialties. i would also recommend that at least 1 of them be a D.O.
