Yep... I remember when the geoduck made it onto Dirty Jobs.

Yeah and Hung from top chef season 3 chose it as his bizarre protein (others were like eel, alligator, black chicken etc.)
 
I think everyone wants to be a surgeon cause of that goddamn show Grey's Anatomy. People think they'll be able to sleep with every other person during residency... idiots.

Couldn't agree more, but you could argue that being a diagnostician could be alluring for those who watch House. I've never wanted to surgery and doubt that my years shadowing or *hopefully* in medical school will change that. Non-interventional Cardiologists FTW!
