I would like to know if there are any really good texts or supplements for a Physics 1 course. I've tried searching around, but it doesn't seem to be like organic chemistry where you should definitely pick up David Klein's book. Any help is appreciated.

I took physics over the summer -when it's at a more rapid pace- without any prior physics knowledge and the Kaplan Physics book helped supplement my textbook(Cutnell) quite nicely.

I just posted about KhanAcademy.org. Its not going to substitute a textbook, however it is a great supplement. He goes through major points of topics and does examples. Plus the videos are short so you dont get bored! I know for Physics 1 there are a lot of videos on there just with different, popular examples.
And its free!

OK, to be clear, Khan Academy can actually substitute a textbook. I didn't feel like spending $200+ on my p-chem and maths textbooks and was able to get good grades in my classes by simply watching the videos and supplementing its content with free, online resources and my class notes.

OP, you might also benefit tremendously from using old AP Physics B/C review books.
