I've seen a few questions on this material and would appreciate if anyone could clear this up for me. If there's a capacitor and resistor connected to a battery, what is:

the voltage after long time the switch is closed on each
the voltage on each immediately after switch is closed on each

the current ""
the current""
 
The key here is understanding how capacitors store energy in the work of moving charges against an electric field to charge the plates. This is essential to understanding AC current. Even if there is no applied voltage from the battery, a charged capacitor, or an inductor within which there is magnetic flux, for that matter, will serve as its own voltage source.

However, as charges flow off from a discharging capacitor, the voltage the capacitor itself, supplies to the circuit decreases. Until the capacitor is fully charged, voltage drop is decreasing across the resistor. When the opposing voltage is removed, the capacitor discharges as its voltage steadily decreases.
