Which one of these is better to take in the summer? Has anyone taken these classes summer semester? Would it be a mistake to take one of them and work part-time (20-30 hours/week).

Thanks in advance!😎

I took orgo in the summer and worked part time. If I managed it, I think you can certainly do it, but not if you plan on studying for the MCAT in August.

I took both semesters of physics as summer courses (Physics I while working 40 hrs/week--yikes!), so it is possible. I would suggest checking out who the instructors are for the summer classes you are considering, because if you have a really good teacher who explains things well, you will be totally fine no matter what the subject is. For Physics I, I had an extraordinary teacher and learned a lot, despite working fulltime. For Physics II, I had a terrible teacher and really struggled to do well (and I did not have a job that summer!!).

I'd say take physics over the summer as opposed to taking summer organic because one of the main reasons for taking organic chem during the year is to demonstrate to the adcoms that you're capable of handling such a demanding course (that relies heavily upon your ability to "see things in ways you've never seen them before") along with your other courses. Although it's true that, given the adequate amount of time and preparation (eg summer school), most people could pull A's in orgo, it's probably better (and more meaningful) to go for that "A" during the regular school year. Plus, most people take it during the year anyway. Physics, however, is different. More people try to take it over the summer (either at their own school or elsewhere); take it over the summer.

Thanks for the responses! Anyone else?
