I just figured out I can graduate a year early and matriculate a year early into medical school for the class of 2005 if I take Physics I and II this summer, and then the MCAT this August.

If I also take the MCAT kaplan prep course this summer in addition to physics, do you think i'll have sufficient time to study for both? Is it doable?

It is completely doable. Two of my senior friends did the same thing, and I will be doing exactly what you are pondering this summer. Good luck and study hard!

I think it depends a lot on the intensity of the physics course you will be taking. Also, will you be working too?

I took the August MCAT (2002) while taking physics II and working in a lab, and if I had to do it again, I may have done it differently. I almost had no time to relax and was pretty burnt out by the time I got to the MCAT.

Question: Do you consider yourself good at standardized tests? Did you take physics in HS and find it straight-forward to understand the concepts? If yes and yes, then do it. Even if not, you can always retake the MCAT and explain to adcoms that you hadn't taken all the necessary prereqs the first time.

Good luck.

You can do it, it might just be a little difficult. I took physics 1 and 2 over the summer (each 5 week terms) while prepping for the August MCAT. For me, though, it wasn't too bad. I had already taken the classroom portion of the Kaplan class during the spring and took physics at the junior college as opposed to at my university. If you do all of the classroom and out of class stuff for Kaplan, it could get a little hairy. It does mean, though, you can essentially blow off the Kaplan physics stuff for the most part because it will still be super-fresh by August.
