I'll be taking Physics 1 and 2 this coming year with no prior knowledge. Would Nova physics be a good book to give me a decent understanding of the concepts before I start the class? Are there any other recommendations?

physics is easy. I wouldn't "pre-study" it because it will be filled with demonstrations (at least at my institution) to make much of the less intuitive things intuitive. As long as you can do algebra, you'll be ok.

Yeah, just wait until you start classes. If you find it isn't clicking, then at that time, look for supplement material (Nova being good for trig-based).

Still though, would Nova be good at explaining concepts to a complete physics noob?
