I have a question for anyone who has written the OAT recently.

I'm wondering whether we have to be familiar with conversions between SI and non-SI units. A lot of the physics practice problems I'm doing deal with units like slugs, lbs, and ft. I especially find the use of lbs to be a bit ambiguous. I'm not sure if it makes a difference that I'm writing the test in Canada.

Thanks!

I didn't see any conversions like that on my test. It was pretty straight forward and all in SI units. None of that SI - non-SI conversion stuff.

I took the OAT earlier this year and didn't have any conversions either.

If you go to http://www.opted.org and then read the OAT Examinee Guide, there is a section which lists the specific topics each section of the OAT will cover. It can be found under the section entitled, "Scope of Test."

thanks for the responses!
hmm now i'm also wondering if this also applies to the quantitative reasoning section. thanks!
