1] iodine deficiency would lead to release of
thyroglobulin
thyroid stimulating harmone

2] alpha 1 adrenergic receptors cause
vasoconstriction
bronchoconstriction

3] how many amino acids in a polynucleotide if the gene has 300 nucleotides?

bronchoconstriction( its by parasympathetic)

100

1) due to lack of iodine , amount of thyroid hormones is low in blood which results in increased release of TSH by pituitary.

3)this is due to degenerative nature of gene codon...acc to which a single amino acid can have more than 1 and maximum 3 codons.....

cutedoc,
Can you please explain Q3 about the nucleotides/AA:
How is it 100 AA.?
If there are 300 nucleotides.
AA is formed by triplet codons like AUG etc.
Is a nucleotide equivalent to 1 codon ( heterocyclic Base + Sugar + Phosphate).
In this case the base would be 1 codon. Correct.? Is this how u derived at 100.? seems to make sense now.

1 is TSH. Thyroglobuin is a protein that contains Iodine and is a main component of thyroid hormones: thyroxine T4 and triiodothyronine T3. TSH is the hormone that stimulates the production of T4 and T3.

So if there is an iodine def., then no thyroglobulin can be made and therefore no T4 and T3 is produced. The body senses it has no T4 and T3 (which it needs for metabolism), so it releases TSH to start making more T4 and T3.

But releasing more TSH will not do anything since you don't even have the essential minerals to make the hormones. It becomes like a very detrimental positive feedback loop. Thus TSH just accumulates and I believe that large accumulation is what causes GOITER.
