I feel like I just complete screwed my chances of getting into physical therapy school. I've always been a pretty good student. I graduated high school with two years of college done. I got A's in Bio 1 and 2, Chem 1 and 2, General Psych, and Abnormal Psych, and it's looking like I'll get an A in statistics, too. I got an A- in calculus, and will probably be getting either a B+ or A- in Physics 1 once I take the final. Anatomy was a little worse with B's in both lecture and lab, but then I went and screwed myself and got a C- in physiology. I studied so hard for each test, and still kept coming up short. Whether it was the teaching style, the test style, or my study methods, something went wrong, and now it is what it is. If I retake the class and get a high B or an A, do I have a chance at getting into PT school?

You will have to retake the physiology class before you apply to (or theoretically before you matriculate into) PT school. Schools almost always state that all pre-reqs must be completed with a grade of "C" or higher, so if you got a "C-" then your situation is pretty cut and dry. If you retake and get an A you should not expect to be significantly impeded by this class as the rest of your pre-req grades are all good. Contact the schools you are interested in applying to and make sure that they will replace the C- with the A (retake grade) when calculating your pre-req GPA, and you'll be totally fine. 👍 Most schools will do this for at least one class but some don't, so it's worth finding out. If that C- is replaced with an A, your pre-req GPA is actually going to be like a 3.8 which is quite competitive.

Yep, just retake the class ASAP....get an A, don't worry about it too much. Physiology was a tough class in my first year of PT school....you will want to master some of that information to take with you anyway. Figure out a way to make it work, study with a classmate who did well, get tutoring if needed.

Hey, I had very similar grades as you. A's and B's in everything (besides a C in Chem II actually but retook that). I got an A in A/P I and then got a C- in A/P II due to some annoying factors along with a lapse in work ethic during my senior spring.

BUT I just did my second go around of PT applications. In between I did a Masters program (graduating in a week) and I got into 3 PT schools and am on the waitlist for 3 others. I am also retaking A/P II right now. Basically, you are not screwed. Some schools want to see that you are always improving, some want to see you are learning from past maistakes (simply signing up to retake A/P II is big), and others just care about the grade. One school I am waitlisted for says that if I got an A in my A/P II retake, I'd move to the top of the waitlist.

Basically, you aren't screwed. Just show that you are constantly improving, retake the class, make sure something about your app seperates you from the pack (mine was my Masters and research experience) and you will be fine.
