Hey guys,

I am in my freshman year and am just getting the hang of learning to juggle my course load. I know some people who go straight out and take 4 sciences classes with 4 labs, work, and volunteer. For me, I just don't evn know how to manage that. Would it be advisable to take a decent course load like maybe chemistry, biology, kinesiolgy, and calculus with 2 labs and then as I move on each year take a heaver course load until I find my limit? I just don't want to screw up my GPA right in the beginning. I am also starting to volunteer on the weekends for around 6 hours.

Thanks.

i would say take 2 science, and 2 fluff courses so you can see how you can handle the science. see how much time and energy is required to succeed. then I would see if i could handle tougher courses with my sciences but i wouldn't take 6 classes unless it is truly what works for you.

Hmm that makes sense.

Right now I am taking 3 courses for my first semester just to see what the material was like. I am taking Biology, Calc 1, and a Biology Lab. As of next semester I was planning on Chemistry I, Biology II, Calc II, and Kinesiology with a lab in both chemistry and biology. I need to take Chemistry in order to move on to higher levels of Biology. However, how many pre-reqs would you reccomend to take each semester. With the above course load, I would be taking 3 pre-reqs. Would it be wise to spread out my pre-reqs a little so that I can assure myself that I can get good grades while I am still starting out and then as I get intot he habit of things begin to take on a heavier course load?
