Which is better for measuring 15 ml? I initially thought pipet b/c of accuracy but with further thought, I guess it can't hold 15 ml? Does anyone know a general range for how many ml for pipet vs buret?

Hello Super 112,

Here is a link that you might find helpful.

Good luck in your studies!

So images going clockwise are buret, pipette, and a flask? Right?
So it does look like buret is more accurate, but where would you say a micropipette comes in? I can only assume it's more accurate since the person doesn't need to look at the meniscus and you just spin the dial. I guess the trick is don't assume they mean micro-pipette when they say pipette? Thanks

A pipette it used to deliver and a burette is used to measure and deliver. read the question and it will tell you how to go. Also, accuracy is completely dependent on the volume either glassware delivers so its not enough to say I think that a pipette is automatically more accurate than a burette of the same exact volume.

Pipette is usually the answer when you are transferring a small (15 mL or less) liquid and it needs to be exact. I came across a question when I was studying where I though it would be pipette, but the answer was buret; they both measure very precisely and I wouldn't worry about getting a weird question needing you to decide between the two. Burets are usually involved in titrations.
