Hey, how soon are they going to be sending them out? This week? Next week? I'm absolutely dying to find out!!!!!

What would I do for a pitt acceptance? Let's see... I would move six hours away from my loved ones, including the guy I want to marry, to a place i've never been to and don't know anyone... just because I love pitt... 🙂

Isn't that enough?! Oh, and I would take out $150 thousand in loans too 🙂
 
hmm, i called and asked and they said early march. i guess that's soon, but not too soon.
 
Early March!! Soon, but not soon enough!!!!!!! This waiting game is driving me absolutely nuts! At this point, it seems like March is going to be incredibely stressful.... but at least by April i'll either be celebrating or.... well, we won't discuss that 🙁 😉
 
Sometime in the first week of March they will be sending them out by snail mail.

I interviewed on 2/13 and wonder if I'm going to be considered for the first batch of decisions. Anyone know?

It all depends on how often they meet. I'm not sure, but I'd say you have a decent shot at being reviewed before the first round of decisions are made. Good luck.
 
I interviewed a few days before you and I was told that the committee meets every week. So it all depends on if your interviewers got their paperwork in right away. If they didn't, it'll probably be the second-ish week of march or so! eek!
 
Some of you people just need to be a little patient. I know waiting sucks, but check out the UCLA thread if you wanna know how painful it gets. I interviewed in Sept and they told us even back then that letters wouldn't go out until early march. UCLA, on the other hand, was supposed to send theirs out mid jan and have now finally gotten to it. So the wait for Pitt isn't as bad as it is for some other schools, hang in there and good luck!

I want Pitt so badly it hurts. I called them and they said that my interview date was on the "borderline..." My interview group didn't have the "admissions process" talk, so none of us had any clue as to when we would hear...

It's great to hear that the second batch of decisions would go out as early as the second week of March!

But that's exactly the same as Pitt? September interview - early March decision.😕
 
No interview invite yet, so I take it Pitt is a no go for me. Bummer.

A friend of mine has been complete at Pitt since late October, and she just got an interview invite from them last week! Unfortunately, she's interviewing there in mid-March... but it's still an interview = a shot!!

Someone posted today that they got an interview intive at pitt. Keep checking that E-Mail (as if you needed encouragement to check it obsessively, like all of us 😛 )
 
yea, I got an invite today. considering going, but the idea of interviewing for a waitlist spot turns me off.

Thanks for the encouragement. It's a bit frustrating being limited to waitlist spots... but it's good to know I'm not out for sure.
 
anyone know whether the Pitt status page will reflect any type of decision (ala the UMich page?) if acceptances are being sent out the first week of march then obviously some decisions are going to be made in the very near future.
 
one thing: i got an interview invite and that wasn't even reflected on my status page, so i dont know if anything else will. also, i was wondering if anyone knows whether my interview will be for a waitlist spot only, since its in early march. i guess i'm asking if they send out ALL their acceptances at one time in march and then move the waitlist only after that.

No, they don't send out all of the acceptances for the March 1 date - there is still a chance that you can get an outright acceptance even interviewing late. But, even if you get waitlisted, there are a fair number of people in my class who got pulled from the waitlist.
 
just bumping this up. anyone know whether the decisions will be made this week or next? the AAMC stats show they accept almost half of their interviewees - anyone know how many of those are sent out with the first round, or if they tend to act conservative and use their waitlist?
 
trying to bump again... please see my above post. this is weird. it recognizes the proper post time, but isn't moving into its proper spot.

Actually, decisions have already been made as to where you rank...we are only waiting to hear about what they thought. Otherwise, they made a decision on you about 4 weeks after you interviewed. I believe they fill their class by the first round (probably overfill it by a little bit) and then begin sending out additional ones after the first week.

I'm so nervous for next week! This week is dragging!!!
 
Yeah I am excited too! So March 1 is the official day they are sending letters? I have been asking around for someone who knows the exact day. It's so much better when you have something to count down to!

i wouldn't count on 3/1. i was told "first week of march." that's not necessarily 3/1.
 
I can't wait! Pitt is definitely one of my top choices. And being a PA resident, at least I get a small tuition break. It's not much, but every little bit helps.

As for the "first week of March" bit...one of my tour guides at another school told me that he heard from Pitt on March 4 last year. So let's hope this year is the same way!

i was at pitt on 2/20, and they stated that the first round of acceptances that go out in march will only fill a portion of the class. (i'm gonna say 2/3, but i'm not 100% sure about that) those who interview now or later still have a chance at an acceptance...

Just trying to help out. One of my really good friends applied to Pitt and didn't get an interview till middle of march. The gave him an acceptance a week later.

Point being, this school seems to like to interview and accept pretty late. Just stay in the hunt.

I had a dream about the Pitt decisions last night in fact (along with one about CCLCM.) good luck to everyone, and be sure to keep us fellow SDNers updated!

I think they send decisions by snail mail, but I could be wrong. I've heard that sometimes student interviewers will email applicants if they've been accepted. Sometime this week or next week we will hear though, one way or another. Good luck to everyone. Please post when anyone hears anything, I think we're all very anxious.

i think these were for the class that entered in either 2002 or 2003. looks like they took just under 3x their class size to fill the class.
 
So if I am not mistaken, those numbers mean:
Applied, Interviewed, Accepted, Attended ?


If that's the case, they odds are not too shabby (especially for a PA resident)!

sean's interpretation is right. the question before was asking what percentage of matriculants come from the waitlist, and i don't think that number is published for any school. it'd sure be nice to know though.
 
I checked last year's countdown thread, and it seems that people started getting student/faculty emails on March 3rd. Also, several people who got in didn't get student emails. So I figure, with the leap year and all, we should be hearing in the next two days, if they are on the same schedule as last year.
I've been reading the little yellow book yet again, and the tension is killing me!

Oh man, it is really getting close! I can't wait! I will be so bummed if I don't at least hear something by Friday!:scared:
 
I keep hearing that people got emails from student/faculty interviewers before official acceptances went out last year. How does that work? Nobody asked me for my email address...what the heck!?!?!?

they have our email addresses. remember that the interview invite came via email. until one person hears something, there's nothing to freak out about, and even then only freak out if some time passes and you've still heard nothing. we've waited quite a while (6 months since my interview) - another few days isn't gonna kill ya.
 
Last year, some of the accepted students (me) where emailed some (my girlfriend) weren't. Basically, once they make the decisions they will give the student interviewers the emails of their accepted people to email if they want. So no email doesn't = no admit. Also, I didn't have anything in my box, so I don't think the time has come for the decisions quite yet. good luck but don't stress out waiting cuz it hasn't happened yet. cheers.
 
arghh, just called and was told letters will go out this week...........or NEXT WEEK. damn.
