Does sound like Pitt is starting to reject post-secondary. Those who have gotten the nogo letter, does your status page change (like Northwestern, where you suddenly can't log in?) My mail delivery is notoriously slow, but have been complete at Pitt for ages with no word.

When these rejections come, I remember a book I read during the undergrad admission process, written by a former Dartmouth admissions director. She described how she would often take a large stack of apps home in the evening and had to plow through them before bed, interrupted by phone calls, crying baby, fatigue, etc. She admitted that these external influences undoubtedly influenced how she read some of the folders. Even the grouping or order of folders could impact decisions - e.g. just read dozen in a row of similar ec's and stats, so suddenly someone "different" gets her attention. I'm not saying grades, scores, ecs etc. are not crucial, but there is a certain subjectivity or even "luck" factor that we can't control.

Here's hoping the luck quota swings in everyone's favor at least some of the time!

Amen to the luck quota Lab.... I can still access my status page at Pitt even though I was rejected (the letter says Nov 10th but I only received it yesterday)....Nothing has changed on my page. I was a little disappointed because you might remember three weeks ago, I could suddenly access a part of the site that I couldn't before- It said "Congratulations on being invited to an interview at Pitt"- and then went on to list the addresses of current students who were willing to be hosts. I don't think they are too technologically adept out there. The rejection letter by the dean also says how sorry he is to be the bearer of bad news because "my Personal review of your application tells me how hard you have worked towards becoming a physician." Think it says that on everyone's?

How long does it take for UPitt to notify you of your rejection or interview invite once your application is considered complete..4 weeks..less...or more?

Thanks,

Goal-Getter

My rejection letter also contained the mention of his personal review. He must be one busy guy.

After reading this post, I decided to email Pittsburgh, since it's one of my top 5 choices, andI hadn't heard back from that in more than 2 months. In a few hours, they sent the email invite. 😛.

I was complete 8/10.... my rejection is dated 11/10... Most of the people I know received interviews at Pitt received their invites before their secondary was even submitted. Haha Zapp confirms that the Dean is indeed one busy guy!
