My understanding is that there is a three day orientation the first week of june (4th, 5th and 6th.... i think), the first deposit of $750 is due on the 13th of march, the second deposit is due on May 1st, and school starts on the 22nd of august. I hope that helps.

does anyone know if this means they'll wait until after march 13th to make more decisions and offer more acceptances or is it more on rolling terms?

To those of you, who have been interviewed and accepted at Pitt, I have an interview on March 10 and I am wondering if I can get some interview feedback from you guys?

I interviewed at Pitt at end of Jan - got accepted mid Feb. The interview was very relaxed, don’t worry about it man, just be yourself. Everyone was VERY nice...its an all day affair (the visit, NOT the interview....lol....don’t freak) The dean introduces himself and the school in an auditorium (nice thing, none of the other dental schools’ deans made an appearance in any other school I interviewed) Then you get a letter telling you the name of the person and the time of your interview, the finance lady and so on give their presentation while people get called in and out for the interviews, a student takes you to your assigned professor’s office.

After the interviews, they show you the new rec/stadium center next door and you have brunch w some of the students AND the dean and other faculty (very nice too, they are all very accommodating and friendly)

All I can say is, relax, they ask the basic: why dentistry?, why Pitt? etc.

The whole feel was very friendly and almost Midwestern in their hospitality...never felt rushed or grilled.

Hope this helps. The hotels they recommend are all walking distance from the dental school, just be aware its WAAYYYY uphill (was very icy when I was there, almost killed myself…lol)

Dont know if it will come up, but in case you run out of Pitt-specific things to feed them, my interviewer did mention that Pitt has one of the largest (top five) endowments for research in the country, which I didn know nut he seemed very proud of. Dont know how useful this will be but, well, now you know.

Also, their sim-lab is brand new and if they ask you what you think about living in Pittsburgh, the city has consistently been rated top 5 most livable places in the U.S. for queality of life vs cost of living. Again, dont know if that will be useful but, its always nice to have some extra info.

You'll do fine dude...be confident and it will be ok. GOOD LUCK!

i didn't realize they were interviewing until march 10! was it a big group and by when did they say you would find out? Just trying to figure out if there is another round of regular accpetance deadlines before the may 1st second deposit deadline. 😕

and also simplystressed your right, the march 13th deeadline is done!! hopefully that means some movement in the list and calls for us soon!!!?

yeah my friend went for an interview on the 10th. he said it was only ten people and when he called about the interview he was told it was only for very well qualified applicants so i'm assuming that is why there was only ten there. he was also told that their acceptance would be based mostly on how many seats were going to be left after the 13th and that the committee would be meeting either friday the 14th or sometime early this week so you should probably be hearing something soon if there was movement...good luck i hope you get in 😀👍

thanks! i hope i hear news soon too. I haven't heard anything from yet so I wonder what happened in their meeting on friday/early this week and how many seats are still left. It's Tuesday so hopefully there will be good news today or tmrw

try not to worry about it too much, even if you don't get a call now there are still several other deadlines that can offer some movement, one in particular is may 1st it's another deposit deadline. keep your hopes up 🙂

he loved it, he felt the same as i did i.e. the school meaning the facilities, faculty, and students were great.

try not to think about it there's plenty of time...i'm sure there's gonna be some movement between now and the beginning in august

Realistically, there will probably be more movement around when the 2nd deposit is due. After that when we get into the summer months only a few people would get pulled off because everyone is more final about where they're going…so at most like 5 people IF THAT could see movement that late?

We just have to be one of these lucky people but still, I think if I don't hear news after second deposits I'll know it doesn't look so great….right? is this the right logic?

that is correct logic but 5 people might be all it takes..also if they do decide to take 5 people off the waitlist, some of those people they intend to take might already have other schools in mind, therefore bumping others up the list quicker.

true, i guess there's no movement for now then. They should at least send out details explaining their waitlist process because technically I haven't heard any official news since the interview awhile ago. Has anyone else heard any other news (official status update, waitlist process explanation, rejection) other than an acceptances post-interview?
