For the orientation you are suppossed to wear buisness casual. You will be taking pics that first day. Those pics will follow you all the way until you apply for specialty programs, so wear a shirt and tie at least the first day. Then you can break down to a polo for the following days.

Yes there are a LOT of speeches! VERY BORING!! And, very pointless. For all of you who will be missing school or missing work I am sorry. They really do nothing that couldn't be handled through mail, but it does give you the opportunity to meet your new classmates...And, look for housing...For all of you outta staters like me you should really be paying no more than 500-600 depending on bedrooms and roommates...I pay 300 everything included + a parking space and 2 minutes from school...

Definately a lot of positives and negatives alike, but the big negative that is NBDE part1 is looming over me right now...So any of you that have questions try to catch up with me at orientation...

hello and congrats to all you newbies who decided on PITT,

1st of all when you come for orientation look for housing! My advice is get together with a group of fellow newbies and go apartment hunting, because you really get no help from admin.

The first day of orientation upperclassmen will probably organize some type of get togeher at one of the local bars like "Docs" or something. You should probably go to that so you can meet some of us.

If any of you have questions go ahead and ask. Oh and if any of you want to save a little money you can stay at the Psi Omega house. An interviewee did at his interview and enjoyed his stay. PM me if you have any questions.

You talked about how admin doesnt help with housing. are their reps from apartments at the orientation or real estate agents there? Is it just best to go out on your own and look for a place? the roomate thing sounds cool, but im thinking maybe i want get a apt for just myself, never lived alone, i think i need it. any help welcomed, thanks.

I would like to offically take back everything that i said about the orientation. I was fooled into believing that the orientation would be boring and all we would be doing was listening to alot of boring speakers. I was corrected by the all knowing and wonderful Rose. 😀 But seriously, i am very excitted about the orientation, hope everyone else is too. its going to be a great time to get to see everyone and meet everyone. hope to talk to everyone soon.

Hi! I just looked at the weather forecast for Pittsburgh and it seems like it's going to be nice, in the 70s. Unfortunately, scattered showers are predicted for Thursday, so hopefully it won't rain during the ASDA picnic?! I snagged the 4-year membership for ASDA. I figured it would be easier to get the 4-year rather than renewing every year and the bundle deal was a little cheaper. 😉 Yup, Ruskin Hall is a Resident Hall for Med, Dent and PhD students.

I am just going to make reservations for one of the four discounted hotels that Rose emailed us a while back. The hotels listed were: Hampton Inn, Holiday Inn, Shadyside Inn, and The Wyndham Garden Hotel.

does Psi Omega house or any other houses provide year round housing for dental students?
if so, how much a room and whom should i contact?
