I know that it's too early to say this, but I am looking into different options so that I don't panic when the worst comes 🙁

1. Are there any SMP that accepts students right now for 2013 program? If so, could you tell me where?

2. If I do apply for 2014 SMP, would it be too late to be recorded for next cycle?

3. If in case I'm not accepted to any school, how can I prepare now to enhance my chance for upcoming next cycle?

4.If I do submit SMP application (UMDNJ SMP), would it negatively or in any way influence my current application?

Looking at SDNer's gpa, DAT, ECs, and LORs, it seems like I don't have any chance to even make into dental school ..... :scared:

I need your help! I'm hoping for the best but expecting worst scenario to be realistic. Please shed some light for me!!

Thank you for your serious considerations and support! Looking forward to hear your wisdom!

Retake DAT, postbac classes

Don't compare yourself to the SDN pool, compare yourself to the stats of the schools of your choices' data, from the ADEA guide

One program is that one in Mississippi that starts late. There are some SMPs that have a student get off a med/dent school waitlist and they have an opening. I would contact program directors right away.

To add to UltimateHombre, add shadowing hours, work, do volunteer work, etc. Add more variety to your application.
Your number 4 is really dependent on the program. I would ask the director when you contact them.

I am not trying to hijack your thread but I am in a very similar boat.

I took all the classes and did retakes which for dental school has made me ineligible to get into a dental program.

My GPA is high enough that a graduate school program may accept me but I have not taken the GRE yet.

Because I did badly I got depressed and didn't take the DAT.

I could take the DAT and then apply and see if I could get into a one year program like the one at Creighton but I believe that is a very expensive gamble so unless someone here knows for sure that it would be a good idea, i'm looking at plan B.

At this point I believe that I need to take the GRE and consider graduate school with the goal of just acing as much as possible in that time.

Anyone have thoughts on other programs I should consider or things I can do to work on getting to my end goal of dentistry?

I am unfortunately at a point where everything for school is out of pocket so I can't take anymore undergraduate classes (wouldn't be wise since my science gpa is too low with the retakes)

I would also suggest, Mississippi college medical sciences program. It's fairly easy to get into, but the classes are brutal. I just finished my first semester, did well, and already got my first dental school interview.

Classes start on Tuesday, so I don't know if it's possible to get in for fall. They also take DAT, MCAT scores, not only GRE like many of the other programs.
