When I am searching for plane tickets for around december 8th, 9th, 10th, they are ridiculously expensive. Why are these blackout days? I am going to be in a poverty situation after paying like 600 dollars for a plane ticket. 🙁

i dont know why these are blackout days. but who knows. they choose and they set prices. in the end they are happy and we end up poor.

if this is for an interview....can you get just a later date?

Suck it up...

you don't HAVE to go to the interview...

I think it's the same thinking that makes oil companies raise the price of oil in the winter - they know you have to heat your house and will pay any price they set. $$$$

Christmas time travel is making the prices insane. Can you somehow get a JetBlue or Frontier, SouthWestern kind of flight? JetBlue is the best for really cheap flights - otherwise, it's outrageous, but you're not alone. Think of the poor family trying to get to see grandma and forking out 1800. bucks ...

Would it be inappropriate to call the school to ask to reschedule only because the plane ticket is too expensive? I am really hardly scraping by with all these application expenses.🙁

Don't forget Priceline as well. Got a round trip flight for $160, including taxes on the 4th of Dec.

Maybe it just depends on where you're going and whether you overlap a weekend. I just bought mine (Dec. 11-13: Thurs-Sat) for $253. Not too bad.

Were you able to pick your times though?

No you don't and one reason why I just picked a later date in January for my interview. Even though I would have rather done it in early December.

Birdie: Depending on your departure dates I can sometimes override blackout dates if an airlines is not oversold on a particular route. I'm pretty sure I can find something decent if you have a Saturday night stay. Give me some exact dates and your travel route.
