Hey everybody,

So I've been thinking a lot about what schools to apply to this upcoming cycle and was wondering if the classes you list as "planned" HAVE to be taken. I know that people are not always able to enroll in the classes they had planned on taking; so will not completing them be detrimental to their application? I "plan" on taking another biochemistry class to fulfill a few schools' requirements, and will follow through depending on if I get accepted to those schools but do not see a point on wasting time and money if I get rejected in the end.

If a planned class would be used to fulfill a prerequisite, then obviously it would look bad if you didn't take it. Otherwise it isn't binding.

There are many legit reasons to not be able to take a class you told them you intended to take: scheduling conflict with more important class, they somehow decided not to offer that class this term, etc.

I have already fulfilled the biochemistry requirement for all but two of the schools I plan on applying to. My question is if my acceptance to other schools would be affected if I didn't follow through even though I meet all of their requirements. Also, I have already graduated so I don't really have a legit reason for not taking it since it is always offered over the summer...

Unless it is a condition of your acceptance, there is no reason to take the class if it is not needed. I would double check with the dental school after you have been accepted, before dropping to class, to verify that they are ok with you not taking the class.
