I play volleyball for my church and each year my team competes with other teams (from other churches) we practice every weekend... Should I put this on my application? will this look good on my application? Thanks.

I would not. My experience tells me that sports/hobbies typically are not considered an EC. I think it would be a neutral item on an application at best, at worst it would appear as though you were grasping at straws.

Others might disagree?

EC's are considered sports or hobbies, but you should only put it in if it had an impact on your life and if brought up, you can talk about it well.

If you were team captain, then maybe.

I always thought of EC's as volunteer work, club type stuff, or school related but not an actual class. Although, I can see the 'Extra' portion as being interpreted as 'anything'. I brought up the sports/hobbies bit during my interview and left it off of my application.

The easiest way to know whether to include something is a simple litmus test: if you have to justify something which is not widely assumed to be of intrinsic value, then you should exclude it from your application.

Not that I have anything against questions because I truly believe that the only dumb question is the one which goes unasked, but the fact that you need to ask whether its a benefit to you to put it on tells you that its not beneficial for you. Go with your initial hunch on that!

Maybe. My best friend and I put our sports activities down but we've been playing them both for 14-15 years. We even talked about them during our interviews. One of the purposes of extracurriculars is that it makes you seem like a well-rounded person. If you think that it's a relevant part of who you are then put it. If not, don't.
