Hi everbody!
I am new at this forum and I have found many of th threads very helpful.
I am an international student at a small Catholic Liberal Arts college in New England. I transferred here from another public liberal arts college. My GPA at the previous college was at 3.6. Grades were:
Gen. ChemI -A
PhysicsI A
AlgebraA
Calculus A
BioloyI B
At current college:
ChemII B-
Org.I B-
BiologyII B+
Genteics C
Physics II B-
Org. II B-
A bunch of Humainty, philosophy, theology course B+ and Bs
Overall GPA at this college: 2.8
I will be taking the MCAT this summer, I think I will do fairly well there based on samples i have taken. I have some research experience and will continue to do research throughout next year. The current school is very anti grade inflation and the faculty is not very supportive. Overall is a very good school and has good regional reputation. May be all of this does not matter to the schools but it has been a factor in the lowering of my GPA.It is very tough to get grades above a C. May be it was a mistake coming here but here I am now.
I would really like to know about my chances of being accepted t a DO school. I really like the DO philosophy and would have applied at DO schools even with a better GPA
Sorry for the long message and thank you all in advance.

you should be fine  :meanie:

🙂

Do what you can to finish strong... Schools do value that. Also, practice "explaining" your "C" in genetics. You might want to briefly mention something about transferring to a harder school in your personal statement, but do not make any excuses. Own it! 😉 Your grades are still fairly strong. Hit that MCAT hard, and show 'em what's up!

Hiya medonly!

I think C8H10N4O2Junkie said it all. Also, it wouldn't hurt to do well on your MCATs - that will show your understanding and ability to apply the knowledge you learned in those classes. 😀

Also, some DO schools require entering students to complete a year of psychology classes - so make sure you check into that.

Good luck! 😀

Thabk you every one for your encouraging words.

agreed with whats been said, definately get at least a 27 MCAT, but over 25 will get you interviews, some have low 20's and get interviews. also see if you can pop that overall gpa up to the 3.0 mark, it will make a difference. i have no doubt that you'll get in somewhere.
