Alright, as the title might suggest, go ahead and say whatever you want in this thread. I just need to write my thoughts out.

I am a pre-dent that is finishing my third semester of college, and I am finishing o-chem and gen bio this semester and struggling a bit in both classes (tons of information to know). My cum gpa at this point is 3.01 and sci gpa is around 2.7. I was at a university last year (I took gen chem there), but now I am at a JC for a year (and I find it to be more difficult), and I am transferring to another university in the fall. I have been reading SDN for the last 6 months now, and I am getting really anxious about applying (in 1-2 years) just from reading the posts, but I am stressing because I do not have the credentials to show for.

I will be taking physics and other upper div. bio classes next year, and I am also volunteering in a county dental clinic right now (4hr/wk).

I know for sure that I want to be a dentist, and maybe pursue an air force career concurrently. I am just constantly loosing hope at every bump I hit along the way....but I am sure this is all normal 😳

Anyways, sorry for writing so much. Say whatever you want. Shut down this thread if you want, but I am just sharing my thoughts as a pre-dent 🙄

i will give you a tip that i should of listened to when i was a 1st year pre-med....

when you study for your courses don't study for a grade but study to learn the material the grade will come! if you study the other way aroudn it will never come.. and when you study..

and its a long road. don't let one or two grades let you down, b.c. overall it all averages out in the end.. you need to bring in couple of "easy" science courses that will let you move ahead and give you confidence.

also have confidence that you can do it.. cause everybody can, but DO NOT be over confident!

also ... to add to the above stuff i wrote.. try to enjoy those courses you take.. don't make them your enemy as they were holding you from getting into dental school. rather enjoy them

I have not started dental school yet but have spoken with a million who have. The pre-req's only get you ready for the real deal. It's a taste of what lies ahead and if you are putting in 110% and are struggling in first year bio, you have a long road ahead of you.

Make sure you are putting in absolutely all you got in that course and are performing at the top of your intellectual capability. If you still can't get a b+ or above in bio in a CC, maybe you should re-examine your proffessional goals.

Just being real with you. D-School is hardcore science all day long, 5 days a week.

After 2 years my GPA was 3.13 and my science GPA was 2.95. After 4 years my overall was 3.5 and my science gpa was 3.49.

I tried as hard as I could the whole time. After a while of taking bio and chem and physics it all starts to blend together and make more sense. Just give it time and like was already said. Learn the material, enjoy what you are learning, it can be really fascinating if you let it. And don't forget to take some "fun" science classes ex. dissection, functional anatomy etc....

I think after you get accepted to dental school you will realize it really isn't as hard as SDN makes it seem.

With all that said. Apply on the first day possible.

you know, the thing is though undergrad science classes are hard, where as dental school sciences classes are really easy "to get", but difficult to remember everything since there is so much...

I pretty never had an A in an undergrad science class, but here in dental school I'm having a pretty relaxing and chill time...

but nonetheless to the OP, you need to pull that GPA up prior to applying or ace that DAT
