Good evening
i just read this site : http://www.ada.org/prof/prac/licensure/licensure_state_requirements_intl.pdf
and i've some questions
1- What's the "pre-doctoral education that results in DDS DMD degree "? does that mean the IDP ( international dental program ) or something else ?
let's say i want to practise in Pennsylvania , they said "
Must submit credentials to an accredited or provisionally accredited school and obtain additional preclinical and clinical training that will lead to the awarding of the D.M.D. or D.D.S. degree by that school. "
what're these preclinical and clinical programs that lead to DDS other than IDP ?
2- What's the "pre-doctoral education "( other than the one above , i mean it dont lead to DDS OR DMD ) ?
3- what's the "post-doctoral education ", does that mean AEGD ?
if i want to practise in Florida , they said "
Must complete a program of study, as defined by the board by rule, at an accredited American dental school and demonstrates receipt of a D.D.S. or D.M.D.; or a 2-year supplemental dental education program at an accredited dental school and receives a dental diploma, degree, or certificate as evidence of program completion. "
from that i understood that in Florida i dont need to complete IDP , just enroll in an AEGD For two years , if yes and true , shall i have to complete the AEGD in dental schools or i can do it in accredited medical centers ??

Thanks in advance

Hi,
Yeah the Pre doctoral course that leads to a DDS or DMD program is an IDP program.
The post doctoral courses include AEGD, GPR, and all the Masters programs in Dentistry.
And I think if you do not want to go through the DDS program in Florida, they might give you a license to work in florida provided you complete 2 yrs of dental education, but then you will not be licensed to work anywhere but Florida. Just give the Florida dental board a call and ask them specifically.
Every state has a different specification so get in touch with them, rather than seeing whats written on the website, coz it sometimes differs.

thanks for th reply KSR
