Hi natdrea,
I personally feel that decks and chaurasia r really good for anat..Kaplan is good for histology and embryology.
Since u have time till december..go thro chaurasia and kaplan first and then once u r over with that..go thro the decks. It will be helpful.
Initially even i found it very tough, since i have always disliked anat.
But by the end of it..I actually started enjoying it!
I went thro chaurasia thrice..the first time..i went thro it like a story book, jus to get familiar with everything, second time i actually studied it properly jotting down points and third time, i felt i was able to remember watever i had studied the first 2 times.
I did a mistake of not studying thorax, and got lotsa q's from that!!
So pls go thro thorax neuroanatomy.
Try to do the q papers atleast twice before the exam(the more no. of revisions, the better)..lotsa repeats came.
While doing the q papers, u will realise the pattern of questions and usually what nerves and arteries, the majority of q's come from..so try to write them separately in a paper so that jus before the exam u can go thro them.
Remember to learn the main nerve or artery, its branches and structures they supply.
For eg:
In most of the q papers, there were questions mainly from:
1.Trigeminal nerve and its branches and what they supply
2.Facial nerve and its branches
3.ECA,ICA and branches
4.Celiac trunk and its branches
5.How the brachicephalic vein is formed.
6.Aorta and branches arising from it.
7.Main 4 ganglions:
Submandibular,Pterygopalatine,Otic and Ciliary ganglion.
Study the preganglionic and postganglionic fibres associated with each ganglion and what they supply.(very important)and also the location of each ganglion.
8.Muscles of soft palate and innervation.
9.Muscles of Pharynx and innervation.
10.Carotid body and Carotid sinus(sure question)
11.Infratemporal and Pterygopalatine fossae -learn the location, structures present in it.(very very important)
12.Different nuclei: eg: Edinger westphal nucleus,Superior salivatory, Inferior salivatory, lacrimatory nuclei and the 3 nuclei of Trigeminal.
13.Circle of willis
14.Structures in Superior and Posterior mediastinum.
15.Foramens with their locations and structures passing thro them.
16.Triangles of the neck with structures(sure question)
17.Muscles of mastication(sure question)
18.Different types of epithelium(sure question)
19.Derivatives of the 3 germ layers
20.Pharyngeal arch,pouch and cleft derivatives(sure question)
21.Different lobes in the brain related to what function.
I know it looks like a lot and there is definitely more to learn..but these r the main stuff i jotted down when i went thro the q papers and studied jus before the exam and a lot of qs came from them.
Dont worry,Am sure u will do well.
I wish u all the best.
