hi all,
i gave my exam in dec for part 1 i got a score of 88. i am not sure what the minimum scores are that are required at the moment ,please guide me if i should apply with this score or should i retake the exam ,as i am already late to apply for this year it has to be for next year. my gpa is 3.5 ,i have yet to take the toefl ,i could not get a date ,that happens in apr.
any advice would be helpful

If I was in your position, I would retake part-I , because nowadays it is very diff to get the admission below 90. But if you have good clinical skill, and interest in westcoast schools, then you don't have to take part-I again, because in california schools, they select through clinical test. and If you want admission in east cost schools, then you can get admission, but not sure. You have good gpa is your plus point that can overhide your part-I score. I had 87 % , and planing to retake part-I. part-1 is not the only score that influence your application, that are other factors also like us experience etc. 88 is not a bad score, but if you have time then take it again. all the best.

it is a tough call. you can check another thread "dental school aceptance 2008/2009" and find out their status. some people have part I lower than 90. but the problem is we don't know the whole picture of these people. they might have something really impressive other than scores. anyway, wish you the best!

HI Krishnapriya,
GPA is a grade point assessment, if I am not wrong, ,there are Various evaluators to grade of your Degree in US, they are ECE , WES, ICA etc. In US, grade is given to the percentages of subjects. Grade A has 4 points, A is equal to 60 % or more in that subject.. B has 3 points, means 55-60 % Maximum GPA is 4.0 and minimum passing requirement is GPA 2.0 or C that means 50%
This score of grades of individual subject is added and divided by no. of subjects, that’s gives the GPA of that degree. If you are failed in any subject, then it will add in the no. of subjects. ( this rule is only for ECE not for WES evaluation) If you have GPA above 3.0 its really good. I hope this helps
