I have just finished up the first quarter of my 2nd year at UCLA and my heart just broke with the release of grades. I aced my first organic chemistry class as well as my GE, but then got a C in multivariable calculus. Good news is that was the last math class I ever need to take, but now my cumulative GPA is sitting a at 3.617. Is it too early to panic? What should be a realistic goal for my GPA by the end of my 3rd year?

Sorry if my questions are vague or worded incorrectly, it's just this is my first C and now my GPA's a 3.617 instead of the 3.7 I previously hoped for. So I am freaking out!

Any advice would be greatly appreciated 🙂

It's never too early to panic.

But this isn't something you should be panicking about. Your GPA is fine where it's at. Just do well on the MCAT too.

3.61 is nothing to panic about. You have 4 more semesters to pull your GPA back up and a C will not kill your app to medical schools.

As others have said, your GPA is fine. Just keep it up and work on the rest of your application.

Do not freak out. Do not panic. All is well. A good goal for end of junior year would be at least this year's matriculant averages of cGPA 3.69 and BCPM GPA of 3.63.
